A little about fertility treatment
At Vitanova, we help childless people – heterosexual couples, lesbian couples, and single women – who want to become parents.
You can find out more about IVF and insemination at our website or contact us, if you have supplementary questions.
Below are answers to some of the question most frequently asked in connection with fertility treatment.
Where is fertility treatment carried out and by whom?
Fertility treatment, whether insemination (IUI) or test-tube fertilisation (IVF), is carried out by our specialist personnel. If you come in for IUI, the treatment will be carried out by mid-wives. If you come for IVF, you will meet out doctor, Helle Meinertz, and our specially trained nurses, who will assist during the treatment.
The actual treatment of egg cells and sperm cells is carried out by bioanalysts in the laboratory. It is also the bioanalysts who follow the fertilisation of the egg and check that the cells divide as they should during the process. The bioanalysts make sure the donor sperm is processed before it is used for insemination.
Fertility treatment – which is the right one?
Before you start fertility treatment, you must have a consultation with us, during which we will decide together whether you will start with insemination (IUI), or have test-tube fertilisation (IVF), to fulfil you wish to become parents. During the consultation, we will also find out whether donor sperm should be used, or whether the partner’s sperm motility is good enough to fertilise the egg. We always give personal and individual counselling on the fertility treatment, and it is always you who make the final decision on the procedure we carry out.
Acupuncture in connection with fertility treatment
Vitanova offers acupuncture treatment in connection with insemination and IVF. A lot of investigations have shown that acupuncture increases the chances of pregnancy.
Our acupuncturists are specialists in fertility treatment, and they can also give you treatment before you start on fertility treatment, to optimise your chances of pregnancy.
Acupuncture can also be recommended for men with low sperm motility.
There is also the option of continuing with acupuncture during the pregnancy. Acupuncture can minimise possible pregnancy discomfort.
Fertility treatment – what does the law say?
Before fertility treatment can be started, the woman must be examined for HIV and hepatitis. We also recommend that she is tested for Chlamydia, if she is less than 26 years old. In the case of a couple, where the man is to supply the sperm, he also needs to be tested for HIV and hepatitis.
Women who are over 45 years old cannot receive fertility treatment. There is no age limit for men.
Prices – what does fertility treatment cost?
