Documented trials with acupuncture

There are a lot of different views and opinions about the effects of acupuncture, but more and more people have experienced pain relief from the use of acupuncture, and interest in it has therefore grown. Fertility treatment has become a specialist area for acupuncture. As time has gone on, there have been several documented trials showing that acupuncture in connection with IUI and IVF has a positive effect and increases the chances of pregnancy.

Acupuncture for both men and women

With IUI, acupuncture is given immediately before the insemination and again just afterwards. When you come for insemination, you meet first the mid-wife and then the acupuncturist. The acupuncturist gives you acupuncture on the insemination couch, and you remain lying down with the needles in for 25 minutes. Then most of the needles are removed and you are inseminated by the mid-wife. Finally, the acupuncturist puts the needles in again and you remain on the couch for about half an hour.

The acupuncture stimulates circulation in the energy paths of the body, and the points chosen by the acupuncturist in fertility treatment steer the energy towards the uterus and promote fertility. Some of the points affect the muscles in the mouth of the uterus and soften them, so that it is easier to insert the catheter into the uterus. But the strongest effect that you experience with acupuncture is that you become very relaxed. Some people fall asleep, so it is good if you can stay on the insemination couch throughout the treatment without having to interrupt the relaxing effect.

You can also benefit from acupuncture if you have heavy or irregular periods or a tendency to PCO syndrome, but the process takes longer and can stretch over several months.

Men with low sperm quality can also be helped with acupuncture and meticulous dietary guidance. If you want treatment to stimulate your sperm quality, you can make a separate agreement with our acupuncturists or find a good acupuncturist or zone therapist who knows about fertility treatment yourself. The treatment a long one, since it takes several months for good sperm cells to be formed, but it is certainly worth considering if the acupuncturist thinks you might benefit.

Acupuncture must be paid after each treatment and costs DKK 500.
