Vitanova gives you the possibility of choosing between anonymous and open donor. An open donor has agreed that the child may contact him when the child turns 18. The open donor choice is a possibility that many women find important. Still it is difficult to know which choices are best to make on behalf of one’s child. We have daily contact with many women and we would like to use our experience to guide you. In Denmark there are clear legal guidelines regarding deposit of donor sperm and which illnesses donors must be examined for. The donor will only be approved by the sperm bank, if he is in good health both physically and mentally. Generally the donors are Danes and most of them are university students. During our initial consultation before insemination we talk about your wishes concerning the donor. If you require donor sperm from a donor with a different ethnic background than Danish, this can normally be supplied by way of a special order with the sperm bank.
