Some women have a friend who they want to be the donor for their child. This wish can come true, if you plan in good time. In legal terms a man you do not live with is considered an ordinary donor. This means that he will have to be examined for e.g. HIV and his sperm must be frozen in a sperm bank that has been approved by the Danish Medicines Agency. After 6 months another HIV test is carried out and the sperm can be released. Subsequently the sperm can be transferred and deposited with Vitanova so that it is ready for you at the clinic when you start the insemination process.

We recommend that both of you attend the initial consultation with us as it can prove useful that he knows as much as possible about the practicalities surrounding the donation. We will also talk to you about your thoughts about the future for you and the child. It is important for both the child and the donor that you have discussed and agreed his role in relation to you and the child.
