What is Social Freezing

Social freezing is an option if you want to preserve your fertility to be able to have children at some point later in life when it suits you. Many women don’t have the option to start a family at the peak of their fertility around 25 due to not having met a partner, career or other circumstances in life.

At 35 the fertility and quality of a woman’s eggs start to decline more rapidly. This is why freezing your eggs in a preventative purpose can be a solution.

Depending on your personal medical circumstance you might have to go through more than one cycle and egg pick-up, we recommend to achieve at least 20 frozen eggs.

Preserve healthier eggs

The procedure is recommended to be done at an age where the eggs hasn’t started to decline in quality, preferably before 38 but depending on your specific situation it might vary.

Virtual Consultation

Your first step to starting treatment is to have a consultation with one of our multilingual medical team through video call. We will discuss any results of tests and scans previously undertaken and develop a treatment plan offering the best chances of success for you.

Scans

Before egg retrieval, you will take medication (tablets and injections) for 9–12 days. During this time, you will undergo 2 to 3 ultrasound examinations and, if necessary, blood tests at a practice or clinic in your home country to monitor the development of your follicles and determine the optimal time for egg retrieval. These examinations can also be carried out at our clinic. Our team will evaluate the results you send us and if needed adjust our plan.

Egg collection

Egg collection takes place at our clinic in Denmark and takes 20–30 minutes. Our doctor retrieves the eggs vaginally using a thin needle (cannula). You will be awake but slightly sedated with painkillers and a local vaginal anaesthetic. Some women find the procedure painless, while others experience slight discomfort. After egg retrieval, you should rest (we recommend that you do not drive yourself). You may experience slight pain for a few hours after the treatment.

Freezing

The eggs are frozen and stored safely until you are ready to use them. The first year of storage is included in the treatment. You can use the eggs until you are 46 years old.

Social freezing costs from 28.500 DKK

Our social freezing treatment includes:

Scans needed during the treatment leading up to egg collection.
Egg collection.
1 year storage of eggs.

*Medication is not included, the thawing and fertilization of eggs at the point you want to use them is paid separately.

The amount of egg collections needed varies and depends on your individual circumstances and will be planned and explained during your consultation. We always opt for achieving at least 20 eggs.
